The San Sebastián illustrator transformed the window of Decathlon City San Marcial into an open-air art studio to create the design that thousands of runners will wear on 22 November
San Sebastián, 9 October 2026. The Zurich Maratón Donostia-San Sebastián has a new T-shirt. The official garment for the 47th edition of the race was unveiled yesterday in a different way: San Sebastián illustrator Mikel Soro, known as @marrazketabar, created the design live on a large-format canvas installed in the window of Decathlon City San Marcial.
For several hours, the store in the centre of San Sebastián became a small art studio open to the street. Under the campaign slogan “Cómete Donostia”, Soro created a live illustration filled with references to the city, its gastronomy and some of the elements that form part of the atmosphere surrounding the marathon.
The creative process could be followed from outside the store by runners, running enthusiasts, local residents and visitors who came to the area. The event also served as the official presentation of the technical T-shirt that participants in the Zurich Maratón Donostia-San Sebastián will receive, while bringing the race closer to the local community beyond race day itself. Throughout the afternoon, visitors could also take home stickers featuring the design and enter a draw to win 10K race bibs.
Mikel Soro’s illustration will form the basis of the design featured on the more than 11,000 T-shirts planned for the 2026 edition. The concept aims to bring together two elements closely linked to the race: the identity of San Sebastián and the experience of exploring its streets on foot.

7,000 runners from 71 countries
The T-shirt presentation comes just over six weeks before the race takes place on 22 November. The marathon has already sold out and will bring together around 7,000 runners, with participants from 71 countries.
International participation once again plays an important role. France, with around 860 runners, and the United Kingdom, with close to 700, are the most represented foreign countries. The race will also feature a strong presence of runners from Gipuzkoa and the rest of the Basque Country, as well as participants from different parts of Spain.
The 10K, meanwhile, still has places available and is already approaching 3,000 participants, with around 1,000 bibs remaining. The event will bring together runners from 45 countries, with France and the United Kingdom once again the main international representatives.
The Zurich Maratón Donostia-San Sebastián is part of the Las 5 Grandes circuit, alongside the marathons of Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid and Seville, and will once again take runners through some of the most recognisable areas of the Gipuzkoan capital. The start will be located on Hernani Street and the finish, as usual, on the Boulevard in San Sebastián.
The race will once again feature Kiprun, Decathlon’s specialist running brand, as its official technical brand. The sports brand develops products for runners of all levels and will be present at the 2026 edition, supporting participants throughout their preparation and race experience.
With the T-shirt now unveiled, the Zurich Maratón Donostia-San Sebastián enters the final stretch towards a new edition that will once again bring thousands of local, national and international runners to the streets of the city.
