San Sebastián has always engaged with the world with an open and inclusive spirit and tolerance of social, ethnic, racial and cultural diversity. The Zurich Maratón San Sebastián fully adheres to these values and strives to organise an event in which people from all walks of life, young and old, feel at home.
These principles lie at the source of its commitment to gender equality and bringing the sport to everyone. It is only natural for an event with such an inclusive vision to make people with disabilities an integral part of our big celebration of running.
The Zurich Maratón San Sebastián has three categories for disabled athletes: wheelchairs, visually impaired and athletes with intellectual disabilities, as well as ensuring that all the associated venues, such as the runner's show, are accessible.
People whose disabilities or illnesses have a serious impact on their mobility can also take part together with partners who push their wheelchairs, giving them too the opportunity to play a big role in this big celebration of sport along with their family and friends.
