Social inclusion
San Sebastián has always shown the world its open, inclusive, and tolerant side when it comes to social, ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity. At the Zurich Marathon San Sebastián, we fully embrace these values, with the aim of creating an event for everyone where all people are welcome, regardless of their age.
For this reason, the race demonstrates its commitment to gender equality between men and women, as well as its desire to make the sport accessible to everyone. Given the event’s inclusive vision, it was essential to ensure that people with disabilities could participate in this great celebration of athletics.
To this end, the Zurich San Sebastián Marathon includes participants and/or volunteers who use wheelchairs or have visual or intellectual disabilities, and ensures that all areas designated for the event - such as the runners’ expo - are accessible.
The AEFAT group also welcomes participants in “manually propelled wheelchairs.” Their participation allows them to take center stage at this great sports festival, enjoying the event alongside their family and friends.
