The Zurich Maratón San Sebastián gives the option of a full refund of its registration fee to its 10,500 registered runners for 2024

Among other options, all the participants of the great race in San Sebastián who suffered the forced cancellation of this 2024 will be able to recover their registration fees.

Following the forced cancellation of the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián 2024 due to the extreme weather conditions, the organisers would firstly like to thank you for your patience, understanding and support during these difficult days for the runners. Therefore, thanks to the unconditional support of all the sponsors and institutions of the race, especially the main sponsor Zurich Seguros who has supported at all times to reach a solution, and despite having already incurred a number of important expenses that will not be recovered, from the organization are happy to announce that from today they can ensure the full refund of the registration fee to all those registered for last November 24, including management costs and the complete previously acquired (medal engraving).

Also, although the race has not taken place, the Z Zurich Foundation will continue with the 1 finisher 1 euro initiative. This time it will donate the total amount of 12,000, 1 euro for each runner registered in the race, to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL). Likewise, the organisation will donate the surplus T-shirts to the sports schools of Guipúzcoa.

Furthermore, depending on the distance of each participant (42K, 10K or 21K), participants will be able to choose, apart from the refund, between other compensation options from today until next Friday 6th December at 23:59h, through an email with a form that each of them have received. And for those who do not reply to the communication within the established deadline, they will not be able to request a refund and their place will only be saved until 31st December in order to be able to participate in the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián 2025.

Likewise, the organisers have publicly reiterated in their communiqué that ‘this solution has been possible thanks to the commitment and effort of our sponsors and institutions, who have once again demonstrated their involvement and support to the running community. We deeply regret not having been able to celebrate the race as we had hoped, but we will work with more enthusiasm than ever to make future editions of the race unforgettable. Donostia and the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián will always be ready to welcome you with open arms. Thank you for your trust and understanding’.
