ROUTES TO DREAM OF IMPROVING PERSONAL RECORDS
The Avenue Madrid will be the new start point of the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián
Next November 28, will be held a 10k race and some minutes later, a renewed edition of the marathon of San Sebastian, with flat and fast circuits.
The start of the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián, whose inscription is still open, will change its traditional start point from Paseo Errondo to Avenida Madrid. On November 28, in a bit more than 3 weeks, the streets of San Sebastian will be full of runners ready to improve their performance, athletes who dream of improving their records or objectives.
Exactly 14 days after the celebration of the Behobia, the capital city of Guipúzcoa will host the Zurich Maratón de San Sebastián, the second oldest race of 42, 195 km of Spain and, undoubtedly, one of the most interesting if you are looking for a good time. There will be two distances: a short one of 10k with start at 8.35 am and a long one of 42,195 km from 9 am, with the aim of making the Marathon the focus of the race.
On Sunday 28 November, the start point will be given in the Avenue Madrid, leaving aside Paseo Errondo, a place that had generated some unease among the participants. “It will be towards the stadium, unlike the 15k race, which started in the centre. It is a wide avenue, which allows a good organization of the starting blocks, which gives more space to the runners and offers more possibilities for warming up” says Iñigo Olaizola, in charge of the organization that since this year Donosti Eventos and RPM Sports will be in charge.
At least for this edition, the route doesn’t have any more significant changes. Some of them we will found in the first lap, where one of the turns will be made shortly after the new station of Topo in Loiola, in the second lap, the change will be at the roundabout of Loiola. Moreover. In addition, the access to the Mini stadium of Anoeta (where the finish line will be situated) will be Aita Donostia.
Flat circuit
It has become a tradition for the runners who take part in the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián to return home with a personal record with them. And this will be precisely what many of the 2000 participants registered will be looking for. The circuit is ideal for running fast, it is practically flat and the temperature in San Sebastian is usually perfect at the end of November to complete the 42,195 km.
The route is very similar to that of previous editions, with the changes already indicated, passing through the more emblematic places in the city and next to the Concha’s Beach that, despite the works, will have two lanes, one outward and one return. The lowest point of the route is 6 meters over the sea level and the highest is twelve meters.
Registrations are still opened until November 21. For the distance of 10k, the price is 25€, including personalised bib number, chip, accidents insurance, official t-shirt, finish line water station point, cloakroom and showers. In marathon, the price is 49€ for people from Guipúzcoa and 79€ for the rest. In both cases, it is included personalised bib number, chip, insurance of accident, official t-shirt, runners’ bag, pace-maker service, water station points along the race and in the finish line, live tracking, finisher’s medal, medical assistance, online diploma, cloakroom (situated in the stadium) and showers.
