RPM-Mktg AND DONOSTI EVENTOS TEAM UP AT THE HELM OF THE MARATÓN DE SAN SEBASTIÁN

• The new organisers are taking over the Donostiako Maratoia and 15 k race.

• Drawing on their ample experience managing mass sporting events, the organisers want to bring fresh impetus to foster the growth of the race.

Following the change of guard in the management of both races, the new organisers are already hard at work to make the upcoming edition, scheduled for 28 November, the best marathon in the history of the Gipuzkoan capital. RPM-Mktg, the organiser of events including the prestigious Barcelona Marathon, has joined forces with Donosti Eventos, a veteran in the organisation of athletics events, to make the race one of the top marathons in Spain. The organisers have already confirmed that the 15 k race will take place on 17 October, while the marathon is scheduled for 28 November. 

Donosti Eventos director Iñigo Olaizola, RPM-Mktg managing director Cristian Llorens and the chairman of the Gipuzkoan Athletics Federation, Ramón Goikoetxea, signed a four-year agreement for the management of the race in San Sebastián’s Kirol Etxea. 

The Maratón de San Sebastián, or Donostiako-Maratoia, has a long history. Since becoming part of the calendar in 1978, it has never failed to attract a host of participants from the Basque Country, but also from France and England, who see San Sebastián as the ideal destination for its marathon and want to savour its culture, cuisine and landscapes.
