The Zurich Maratón San Sebastián 2024 has already sold 55% of the bib numbers for the main distance and closes the half-marathon
- More than 2,500 marathoners have already registered for the next 24th of November.
- The half-marathon has already closed registrations, exhausting the 1,000 bibs available.
- So far, 42% of the people registered for the 42 km are international, growing with respect to 2023 an 2%.
Practically two months ahead of last year’s edition, the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián
has already sold out more than half of the bibs available for this year’s premier distance. 2,500 marathoners, 55% of the bibs available, have already secured their participation next 24th of November in the 46th edition of the second-oldest marathon in Spain. Likewise, Donostia’s marathon has also sold all its bibs for the half-marathon, where there will be 1,000 participants and a time limit of 2 hours to complete it.
These figures consolidate the growth of the great festival of popular athletics in Donostia, which has already reached the half of its total participation quota, with more than half a year to go until the day of the race. In addition, this event also has a 10K, which expects to gather 2,000 runners.
Donostia’s marathon, faster and more international
Over the last three editions, the Zurich Maratón San Sebastián has progressively grown in volume of international participants, when there is still more than half a year to go until the event is held. In fact, for this 46th edition, 42% of the people registered for the mother distance (42 kilometers) are international, having grown so far by 2% compared to 2023,
and who mainly come from France (which contributes one out of every four foreign runners) and England, although there are nationalities from all five continents.
Likewise, the San Sebastián marathon will again work on improving a course that is getting faster and faster and adapting it to this growth in participation. In 2023,this was the fastest marathon in Spain, according to the analysis made by the Maratones España website,
“the San Sebastián marathon is the marathon with the best times on average. In Donostia, runners take approximately 3h34′ on average to complete the race”. This 2024 is expected to be again the fastest marathon race for the popular runners of the state, as 53.2% of the registered runners aim to improve that time.
